Mid way through week 12

Days to go: 32 ( OMG!!)

Well I'm still at it. Plodding away wearing down my trainers. Which reminds me need to buy some more before race day. Can't believe that the end is just over a month away. Two more long runs ( one 20 miler; one 22 miler) and then the run length finally starts to come down ( one 15miler and one 10 miler.... and lots of other training in between).

Still running 5-6 times per week. Got problem with the ball of my right foot, but after about 5 miles I no longer notice it as the endorphins start to kick in. Managed to keep up with the training schedule I adopted from the internet at the start of all this while on holidays. Luckily where we went was flat with very little traffic and not so hot so able to keep going.

My Dad asked me if I used an I pod when out running to stave off the boredom. Which got me thinking no, I don't, yet I can't think I've ever been bored on a long run. Yes I've had many days when I've woken up and thought, " Oh no, here we go again I've got to get through another training session today and it's soooo boring..' but on the long runs at the weekend I've never felt bored. Probably because I'm too busy trying to keep going but if someone was to ask what I think about when running I'd have to say that my mind is totally blank. Probably quite good therapy really, thinking about it. I'm not sure what other runners think about when out jogging. Would be interesting to know if I'm alone in my blankness of mind....

Anyway the main point of this blog is to reassure Stockport without Abuse that I've not disappeared off the face of the earth and I'm still on track to race in Chester on October 6th for them and to say:

I've finally got an account for donations to be paid into on mycharity.com

So please, please help me in this final push make it all worthwhile.

Thanks for reading!

End of Week 7

Miles run this week= 41miles

Miles since start of training = 233

Days to go to race= 69

Been up at ridiculous o'clock in the mornings to beat the heat and run before work. Has kind of worked and it's been good at the weekends to not disappear for a big chunk of the day and actually be around with the kids.
On down side more noticeable bags under my eyes, which start to droop at 8 in the evening ....
Kind of glad weather broken and even nice to run soaking wet in the rain .... may I regret saying that?

Had my sister in law over from Spain staying this week so that's been great as she offered, yes offered, to get up early with me to accompany me on the long weekend run , on a bike. Sadly no rollerskates and tow rope for me, but still it was really good to have someone there as I plodded along for two hours.

Next week I really need to get into this drinking-while-running malarkey and also try those energy gel shots that my other half assures me are 'goppingly rank'. Otherwise as the distance gets longer I think I'll start to dry up and get hungry..... it's amazing how much of my time when running is spent thinking about what exatly I want to eat once I get back in from running!

Please, please will you look at these websites and consider donating to the charities that I'm running for:

Dont forget to look at my just giving website for MSF ( international medical charity)

End of week 5

Miles run this week: 35
Miles run since start of training: 155
Days to go to race: 83 days

I'm not sure if anyone is really reading this but if they are I'm still plodding , hamstring nicely pummelled and taped by fab local sport therapist, Jane, and I'm still managing to stick to the training plan.

The heat has been hard work - ended up getting up at the ungodly hour of 6am for long run this weekend to try and beat it . Still ended up with beetroot red face dripping in sweat.

When I've saved up the next investment is compression shorts. Jane reckons it'll help stop my bum wobbling when I run and stop the deep ache I'm getting in my gluts.

Not all glamour this running malarkey, you know..........

Off to sort out the stockportwithoutabuse giving page at mycharitypage ..... oh, I'm rubbish at the techy stuff.....

Sunday 30 June 2013

End of week 3 training

Miles run this week:33
Total miles run since start of training:91
Days to go to race: 97 days

I'm nursing my first injury. Hamstring. Perhaps if the Paula Radcliffe knee length socks morphed into tights it might have helped but who knows.
So I've slapped on the deep heat and considering a massage.( how to fit it in between work/training/childcare and sleep?)

By the end of this week I'll have a webpage on mycharitypage.com for
www.stockportwithoutabuse.co.uk

I have a justgiving page for Medicin sans Frontiers ( doctors without borders)

End of week 2

Miles run since start of training: 58
Days to go to race: 104 days

I bought two new pairs of trainers this week - my last pair's soles were coming apart . I did only mean to buy one pair but then the shop assistant in the running shop in Hyde  told me the sale was on and gave me the hard sell about alternating between two different pairs of trainers when running every day .....so good for your feet and so good for your trainers ( win /win situation...) ........ and oh she must have seen coming....I tapped in my PIN number and pressed enter and prayed I'd enough in my account!

Also bought a pair of rather embarrassing knee high white compression socks. (Photo to laugh at to follow next week)
Why?   Hot weather and sitting all day at work = swollen ankles and now I'm running in evenings after work, I need something to squish all the fluid sloshing around my ankles upwards so I can actually put one foot in front of another.
The real reason: Paula Radcliffe wears them so they've got to be good and I need all the help I can get.

If you have a chance please look at the websites for the charities I'm running for:

www.stockportwithoutabuse.org.uk

It's aim to help and support people affected in Stockport by domestic violence through it's helpline ( 0161-477-4721) but also through outreach, it's refuge, outreach service for children, education and advisory service for court process and housing.

One in four women will experience domestic violence at some point in their lifetime.

On average, two women a week are killed by their partner or former partner
